Callan is the biggest town in south-west Kilkenny and a steady source of work — family moves around the Green Street and West Street ends, deliveries to the newer estates off the Clonmel road, and a surprising amount of antique and vintage furniture moving in and out of the town's auction and dealer scene.
The town's position on the N76 makes it a natural stop on Tipperary runs too — a Callan drop often shares a van with a Clonmel or Carrick job, which is good news for the price. Rural townlands around the town — Kilmoganny, Windgap, Mullinahone side — are all part of the same patch.
