Need rid of an old mattress, a knackered fridge or the contents of a garage that's been gathering dust since 2014? This is one of the most-booked jobs we do in Kilkenny — usually faster and cheaper than waiting for a council collection or hiring a skip.
What we'll take
- ●Sofas, armchairs, mattresses, bed frames
- ●Wardrobes, dressing tables, dining sets
- ●Washing machines, fridges, freezers, cookers, dishwashers (white goods / WEEE)
- ●Small electricals, TVs, microwaves
- ●Garden waste — branches, leaves, hedge cuttings
- ●Garage clear-outs and attic clear-outs
- ●Builder's leftovers (wood, off-cuts, broken tiles in small quantities)
- ●Office furniture clear-outs
- ●General household junk and bags
What we can't take
- ●Paint, oil, solvents or any chemicals
- ●Asbestos or anything you suspect contains it
- ●Tyres (specialist disposal only)
- ●Medical waste, sharps or pharmaceuticals
- ●Anything illegal — we won't move stolen goods
If you're not sure, send us a quick WhatsApp photo before booking. Saves a wasted trip for both of us.
Where it actually goes
This matters and we get asked it a lot. Reusable items go to local charity shops or to households who can use them — we'll often drop a working couch to someone we know is looking. White goods and WEEE go to the registered recycling centre at Dunmore — they handle the appliance properly and recover the metal. General household junk goes to a licensed waste facility. Garden waste goes to a green-waste composting site.
We are not, and would never be, a fly-tipping operation. Your job comes with a guarantee that everything is disposed of legally. If you ever ask for a receipt from the recycling centre, you'll get one.
Honest pricing
- ●Single bulky item (mattress, sofa, fridge) — from €60
- ●Two or three items — from €90
- ●Half-van load (typical garage clear-out) — around €120
- ●Full van load — from €180
- ●Mixed house-clearance jobs — quoted on site after a quick look
Final price depends on weight (recycling-centre fees are per tonne), distance, and whether anything needs heavy lifting from awkward spots like a back garden or a third-floor flat with no lift. We'll always agree the price before we start — no surprises.
Tips before you book
- ●Group everything in one spot if you can — garage, driveway or front room
- ●Take photos to send via WhatsApp for a quote
- ●Separate WEEE (anything with a plug) from general junk if it's easy — sometimes saves a few euro
- ●If you're clearing a rental, agree with your landlord what counts as fair wear-and-tear before we take it
Why use a man with a van over a skip?
Three reasons. First, a skip permit on a public road in Kilkenny needs planning permission from the council and isn't cheap. Second, you have to do all the lifting yourself. Third, anything that goes in a skip pays the same per-tonne fee whether it could've been donated or recycled — with us, reusable stuff finds a new home and you pay less.
If you're doing a major renovation and need a permanent on-site dumpster for two weeks, a skip wins. For a one-off clearance of less than a van-load, ringing us is almost always cheaper and quicker.
Frequently asked
How quickly can you do a junk removal in Kilkenny?
Same-day in most cases, especially if you ring before lunchtime. If you've got a deadline (landlord visit, new mattress arriving) tell us when you book and we'll fit it in.
Do you take a single mattress?
Yes, single-item collections from €60 inside Kilkenny city. We strap it down and dispose of it at the licensed recycling centre.
Can you do a full house clearance?
Yes — including landlord clearances, estate clearances and deceased-relative house clearances. These get quoted in person after a quick look around. We're respectful with personal items and will set anything that looks sentimental aside for you to check.
Do you remove fridges and freezers?
Yes. Fridges and freezers are WEEE and go to the dedicated recycling facility — there's a small disposal fee built into the price. Make sure it's defrosted before we arrive.
Do you take garden waste?
Yes — branches, hedge cuttings, leaves, soil. Bigger jobs may need more than one van load; we'll let you know on quote.
